Acupressure

pathAccupressure is an ancient healing art developed in China over 5.000 years ago. It is similar to acupuncture, but instead of using needles, an acupressurist uses gentle finger or hand pressure in a non-invasive manner on specific key points to help stimulate the body’s natural self-healing abilities. When pressed, these points release muscular tension and promote circulation of blood and the body’s life force.

Acupressure healing is based on the flow of life force called “Qi” (pronounced chee) along energy pathways called meridians that connect points. Just as blood and oxygen flow through the circulatory and respiratory systems, Qi flows through meridian pathways and acts interdependently with other body systems. There are twelve principal meridans each connecting with a major organ. When Qi is flowing, you feel vibrant, healthy and on top of the world. When there are energy blockages along the meridians, pain, stress, emotional instability, and illness take center stage.

“Where there is pain, there is no flow of energy. With energy flow, there is no pain” – Chinses proverb

In an Acupressure Session, we explore your concerns and health goals. I then utilize Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) assessment tools of pulse and tongue reading to further determine which meridians are in need of balancing. In the session, I hold specific points and meridians that are blocked to allow the release of tension, promote circulation of blood and facilitate your body’s healing ability to promote and rebalance Qi flow. Keeping Qi flowing smoothly is the key to good health.

As appropriate and upon your interest, we may explore and combine other healing modalities (iRest Guided Meditation, Qigong) to further support your well being.
